There are posts….There is concept of Folksonomy …. but challenge is how to make people come up with relevant tags and labels and even if they have relevant tags … how to motivate them to put a label.
Our servers can search through the content of documents easily but this is a real problem when it comes to images, however this game is as an interesting experiment to give relevant labels to images. Two immediate thoughts are:
- With customization this experiment can also be extended within organizations for promoting the use internal knowledge portals.
- Going forward will this have any tangible improvement in our image search experience or does it mean we will also see google ads in image search page?
Any thoughts?
This sure is Kewl ! I enjoyed it.
Adding to ur thoughts:
How different people associate to an object differently; which is why folksonomies is required.. People do have and can contribute a lot of tags/keywords/labels.
The challenge lies in making people use the tool available. Any tool with whatever cool features is useless unless used.
As the old saying says that: “Ur search is as good as the tags that u have entered” . Nothing In Nothing Out
But, i think this game kind of thing can help people practice tagging an item in various ways.
This is a brilliant concept.
a. Look at what Google is doing.Mastering Web and using the millions of resources.
b. This can easily be leveraged in organizations. But will it work? Considering how closely people guard their expertise?
