Does anybody remember ‘Champak’, yeah, its the one which you picked up as soon as sentences started making some sense to you. In fact number of parents must have bought it as the first magazine to inculcate reading habits in their young ones. But why am I talking about it ? yesterday, I picked up my younger cousins champak in English. Just for a fun exercise to test my reading speed, I started reading it, as in the past i first turned to “ITS FUN TIME” jokes section of the magazine, to read silly champak jokes. I found these two jokes worth sharing with you:

A salesman had just closed his first deal and he was that the piece of land he had sold was completely under water. The customer may come at anytime adn quarrel with him over this matter. He told this to his boss. “Shall I give his money back, sir”. Boss quipped, “Money Back! What kind of a salesman are you? Go there and sell him a motorboat”

(For wannabe Marketing guys its not a joke, its something they long to master, the art to persuation.)

Teacher: Sachin, say a sentence startign with ‘I’
Sachin: ‘I’ is…
Teacher: No, you must say, I am….
Sachin: Okay sir, I am the ninth letter of the alphabet

As a matter of fact, I didnt completed the fun test i planned to take… some other time …. !! but yeah champak still have that flavour of animal characters teaching us moral values, the one i picked up was Know the world special issue, with stories featuring young ones and animals travelling different places around the world. Why animal characters? Is it because we as young ones find animals as uncomplicated and much more captivating?

Hey much loved CHEEKU and MEEKU were still there!!
