Gmail Invites

June 24, 2004

Today, when opening an email account is pennyworth, and most of them are offerning it for free. Think of a mail service that is free but available to selected few, add to it the fact that it is one of the best and innvative and is being offered by a company of excellent repute and known for years for its services, yes, I am talking about G mail, e mail service from Google, though free, yet not available to masses Here’s the Google way of spreading and increasing its user base. Initially gmail was made available only to the selected few and they were known as “test users”. Being an active (incidentally, became active after the launch of gmail) Blogger (Blog service of Google), I was invited to have a gmail account as one of the test user. Later test users were allowed to send invite to his friends to join the gmail. Thus gmail is growing slowly and steadily without even spending a single penny. Google has played the trick very well. They feel elated and out of the banal lot on getting one, they show off myname@gmail.com, they feel like they are being honored by Larry and Brin (guys who made Google and later Google made them). While others who don’t have the gmail, in spite of being faithful member of this world wide community since their yester years feel like they have been left out and are doing some of the craziest things like auction of invites on e bay and hosting up of sites like gmailswap, here at this site people without gmail account are offering money, love, prayers, c++ books, wallpapers etc to those who have invites lying with them, somebaody has offered Thank You published in newspaper check out other Wishes . Even if you dont want to have an account, this link is worth visiting to see why people are nice. Further read this Article in Business world. Sure this World wide community is really emotional!!

All this makes me feel pity for myself, for I sent invites to around 20 of my friends, I feel like I have foolishly squandered the great wealth, soon these lucky friends of mine will be sending invites to their friends and thus gmail growing bigger and bigger, and these invites will loose their value. I still have some invites left with me, so anyone who can’t get it from other sources please email me at my gmail account, let’s see if we can strike a deal.
But hold on, what gmail has that others don’t have it? As a matter of fact Yahoo is offering 100MB and Rediff has taken Google head on with 1GB for free!! But the catch is anybody can have Rediff or Yahoo account. But as for now gmail is free but not accessible to the crowd it’s only for the ‘CHOSEN ONES’. Are you the one?
