Wild RFID ride

August 30, 2006

Before i move on to the technical innovation done by Wild wadi, allow me to tell you that wild waid is water theme park in city of Dubai. It is huge and have more than 20 rides to keep you engaged for a day. My friend who has been in Dubai for past seven years and has experienced the rise of the city closely says that this is the best place to chill out in Dubai. Have a look at the website. They have customized services for wide segment ranging from Kids to corporate meetings. On webiste you can actually play the ride videos and have virtual experience; this virtual experience will motivate you experience it in real. I will definitely spend a day at wild wadi before i leave dubai in november.

Rides and fun are not the only adjectives to be associated with waldi wadi. If you are looking ofr an IT case study, you will like to know about Wild wadi’s experiment. They have implemented state of the art technology in water park. It is not common just back office, payment automation system. But a RFID implementation where in all systems are interfaced into each other. Gueste to wild wadi are given RFID wrist band that acts as their ticket, which can be used to enter theme park. Open and close their lockers to keep clothes. One can also use it as a virtual wallet to pay for items in the park, and redeem any unused deposits while leaving. Wild wadi is supposed to be first water park using RFID to this extent. It is the integration of RFID to access, lockers, retial and ticketing that sets wild wadi apart from other implementations elsewhere.

In future Park is also planning to implement online payement systems, wehre in park will be providing actual bar coded tickets which one can scan and upgrade to wristband at kiosk in park.

All these implementation were/are not a cake walk. Read full piece HERE.To know about challenges and how they innovatively rided over them.

Hey Sid, that’s a cool use of the Hip and upcoming RFID technology. We had a new project coming up based on RFID in Capgemini from a leading retailer this year. They too were planning to implement RFID extensively… not just in tracking products during shipments but through out their entire lifecycle. Ubercool use of Hitech tools!! Keep the updates flowing in dude!!
