Magic dust

September 19, 2007

I call it magic dust.

At some random moment during each day, there is a feeling of such bubbling mirth that it makes me want to throw away my shoes and run on vast grassy stretches filled with flowers and butterflies, and race with the clouds.

It is something which can be felt deep down in the heart and each day I feel as though I have never felt like this before. This one moment of complete surrender to all that is divine, all that that is pure, is truly humbling … It’s like lying amidst flowers and soft grass all around, lazily watching the clouds perform tricks. It makes me believe in little pixies dancing

in their enchanted forests. It makes me believe that thunder is actually rage of an angry God. It makes me believe that the birds have somehow figured out all that there is to know about life’s mysteries and given all their troubles to the wind, who blows them all to the no where land …

Staying happy is a conscious effort. It begins with the peace of mind, which settles after detachment from all that which is not good for the soul. We sit and sulk for days together, thinking over something someone said. Did we ever ponder about how this other person’s negativity affected us in such a tremendous way? Was it worth our peace of mind? If we consciously make an effort of not accepting such negativity, since it simply doesn’t define us, then we are a step closer to this magic. If we don’t yet see what is in front of us, we can try and make a conscious effort to make that invisible visible.

I got sprinkled with this magic dust. Did you discover its’ specks on yourself? It settles down upon your shoulders everyday … did you realize?

well i agree to it that we do are affected by the negativity of others but i wont agree to it that being happy is a conscious effort..
infact it is the other way round.. os as the author says its us that put our worthy time in pondering over a matter thats not worth considering..
    whereas happiness is the feeling..
if it were a conscious effort we could have never found time to be happy in this painfully hectic schedule of ours which we call life…

@ Jerry …. well said …..Feeling it is ….. Unconscious and Natural it should be …. However hard fact is that its not natural ….you pursue for happiness ….

you say ….”Painfully hectic schedule of ours which we call life” …. If happiness is a feeling that comes effortlessly there would not have been any pain or suffering around …there would not have been negativity … well that is not the case …. so we at times tend to do things that make us “feel happy” these things can be as simple as eating your food when you feel hungry or going to bed when you feel sleepy or it might be as difficult as climbing the Everest or reaching the moon or can be as complicated as a killer killing somebody…. Now to some people it comes naturally …with “Painfully hectic schedule of ours which we call life” most of us are not “naturally happy”. Gifted and lucky you are if happiness comes to you effortlessly … So, lets make an effort to be happy ….practice it once …twice thrice …. till the time you have mastered the art of being “happy naturally”. But Practice consciously you must.

and lets face it …negativity should not affect us but it does …. now wen you are hit by negativity you can have any state of mind but you wont be happy …. Now, you have two options either you keep thinking and don’t come out of it …or you do things that will help you come out of it and change your state of mind to be happy …. now again you are making an effort to be happy ….

“In painfully hectic schedule of ours which we call life” we strive for being happy …. we make an effort to secure or attain it …. its called the pursuit of happiness ….. as it was said by Thomas Jefferson During United States Declaration of Independence speech: “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness” – the unalienable rights of man ….

By the way i feel we are missing the point by debating on how to be happy …..conscious or unconscious ….. For once its the end result that matters and not the means 🙂 ….. and for all of us that is internal peace and Feeling of being happy …. point is that if you not feeling happy do things which will make you feel happy … and be happy ….as the author said it when she said ….

If we consciously make an effort of not accepting such negativity, since it simply doesn’t define us, then we are a step closer to this magic. If we don’t yet see what is in front of us, we can try and make a conscious effort to make that invisible visible.
