Lets explore Web3.0

January 22, 2008

Henceforth, at Idea Factory, I will be regularly posting about tits bits and developments in web3.0 / Semantic web space. I myself in learning stage and still trying to put the pieces of jigsaw puzzle together. We haven’t yet really harnessed the full benefit of web2.0 and all of a sudden here we are at the twilight zone of web3.0. So, I thought it would be interesting exercise to start our journey to decipher web3.0

My colleague Puneet pointed out 10 semantic Apps to Watch.

What made me excited about all this was presence of W. Daniel Hillis at Web2.0 summit. Presently he is chairman and co-founder of Applied Minds Inc. and is well known as one of the finest scientists of parallel computing. Earlier i liked his simple and effective explanation of computers in the book The Pattern on the Stone, one of the best I ever read. So, When Hillis is talking about Semantics, it must be worth exploring. Interested in knowing more, read on what Idea Factory is exploring:

1) Lets start with Wikipedia: Web3.0 and Semantic web

2) Sarmana Mitra’s (an entrepreneur and a strategy consultant in Silicon Valley) formula for future: web3.0 = (4C + P +VS) is an interesting read

3) Puneet also pointed me to Quintura which has been named as the search engine of the year : If not anything you will be amazed by the use of tag clouds and the filtration of search results

4) : not related to web3.0 but something i stumbled on and my initial scanning says that its worth exploring. Too early to say but it can be cluetrain manifesto of scientific community site says:

Edge The third culture consists of those scientists and other thinkers in the empirical world who, through their work and expository writing, are taking the place of the traditional intellectual in rendering visible the deeper meanings of our lives, redefining who and what we are.

sounds interesting?

Idea factory invites you to share your knowledge on the topic in comments, posts on your blogs, mails. Isn’t web3.0 or for that matter web x.0 all about sharing knowledge?
