Private RSS feeds – Any solution?

November 1, 2007

Few days back I was searching for web based feeds which is specific for an enterprise and can only be accessed by that enterprise only. What I simply need is well captured by Pooya in this blogpost.

This simple yet gray area is of utmost importance, so I searched web for available solutions if any, and came across some interesting developments and ideas on the same:

  1. SilverOrange Labs: 2003 archives of this company compare some famous RSS readers for the support of security with password protected RSS feeds for testing purpose
  2. Niall Kennedy’s weblog: Niall in his blogpost has very comprehensively captured the need for authenticated and private feeds, its worth reading.
  3. Secure RSS Syndication: O’Rielly’s solution and source code for a secure RSS syndication.

O’Rielly also suggests as a solution to use browser to decrypt the encrypted Feeds. This is interesting in the sense that with more and more content being moved on to the cloud and web applications changing the rules of software industry. Browser I feel will be most important and powerful tool in coming days.

In my future posts I will like to build on this belief of mine and will be posting about FLOCK 1.0 Beta: stunning features and extensions which will simply blow you away and make you wonder if its really a browser or power packed vehicle to browse around and communicate with your friends in world wide web.

Till that time you will like to read this old post on Flock

Is there any way you can remoge people from that service?

when opening in IE, it’s got some overlapping issues. I simply wanted to provide you with a quick
heads up! Apart from that, fantastic website!
